In cases where the Commission has determined a school to be out of compliance and that the severity of the issues warrant immediate heightened attention, the Commission will direct the school to show cause as to why the school’s accreditation should not be withdrawn.
  • A school subject to a Show Cause Order will be required to demonstrate corrective action within the time period set by the Commission.
  • The Commission may require a school to submit Commission-directed reports and receive on-site evaluation teams in conjunction with a Show Cause Order.
  • Failure to demonstrate compliance with accrediting standards or other accrediting requirements within the Show Cause Order time period may result in the school being removed from the accredited school list.

A school subject to a Show Cause Order must within seven days of receipt inform current and prospective students in writing that the school has been placed/continued on a Show Cause Order, provide a summary of the reasons for the Show Cause Order, and indicate where the action can be obtained from the Commission’s website.
