accsc announces key note speaker for the 2013 pdc!
ACCSC is pleased to announce that Dr. David Longanecker, President of the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education, will deliver the Key Note Address at the 2013 Professional Development Conference scheduled for September 11-13, 2013, at the Gaylord National Hotel in Washington, DC.
Dr. Longanecker has extensive experience in higher education, having previously served for six years as the Assistant Secretary for Postsecondary Education at the U.S. Department of Education, as the Principal Analyst for Higher Education for the Congressional Budget Office, and as the State Higher Education Officer (SHEEO) in both Colorado and Minnesota. Dr. Longanecker has written extensively on a range of higher education topics focusing on access and equity in higher education, promoting student and institutional performance, and the efficient use of educational technologies. During his Key Note Address, Dr. Longanecker will discuss the efforts currently being developed across the higher education landscape to embrace innovation while at the same time balancing the need for greater accountability, as well as the myriad of regulatory changes that have the potential to significantly change higher education as we know it. Suffice to say, ACCSC is incredibly excited to have Dr. Longanecker as the Key Note Speaker for the 2013 Professional Development Conference.
Now in its seventh year, the ACCSC Professional Development Conference is designed to provide a dynamic slate of training opportunities for managers and operators of ACCSC-accredited institutions – from full day workshops to a variety of educational break-out sessions across a range of important topics relevant to today’s important issues. In addition, the majority of the break-out sessions are created, implemented, and presented by school managers and operators representing the ACCSC community who bring hands-on experience and provide tangible take-aways for participants. The result is a unique training event centered around best practices from an institution’s perspective and an opportunity to participate in ACCSC’s “Community of Partners in Education.”
