This week, ACCSC learned that proposed legislation in the state of Maine which would have defined an accredited Maine junior college, college, or university as having "regional accreditation" has been removed and that any reference by the state of Maine regarding an institution being accredited will mean being accredited by an agency that is recognized by the U. S. Secretary of Education.

Pursuant to the revised Bylaws and the September 1, 2009 and October 1, 2009 Accreditation Alerts, the Commission will be conducting an electronic election from October 7, 2009 through October 21, 2009 to fill one (1) vacant seat on the Nominating Committee to serve a two year term ending June 30, 2011.
Critical to the success of this endeavor is that all ACCSC accredited member institutions ensure that a correct e-mail address has been filed with the Commission through the ACCSC Annual Report-School Info Tab. In addition, it is important that each accredited institution’s IT infrastructure recognize messages from the Commission as high importance (i.e., not spam or junk mail) and that all spam filters are adjusted to recognize and allow messages from accsct.org and accsc.org.
Election Instructions
On October 7, 2009, each ACCSC-accredited member institution will receive an email from ACCSC with a website link and login instructions to cast their vote. Each ACCSC accredited-member institution is entitled to one vote.
Included in the email will be a link to the ACCSC webpage containing the nominee’s curriculum vitae. Please read the instructions on the website closely to ensure that your ballots are counted. If you have any questions, please contact Holly Miller at 703-247-4524 or via email at hmiller@accsct.org.
